SPAIN: Costa's Got Soul!

COSTA DEL SOL

From Ronda, after driving down a narrow, steep-ass, twisty road, we figure we'll do a pit-stop along the coast. Spain's Costa del Sol is dotted with a ton of seaside towns, and you can't really go wrong with any of them! Miles and miles of sandy beaches, great weather all year round (not super hot in March, definitely needed to layer up on the clothing!) and all kinds of seaside promenades lined with wonderful little chiringuitosI could easily spend way more time here getting to know each and every town.

PLAYA DE SAN PEDRO DE ALCANTARA
Fully meaning to stop in Puerto Banus first, the GPS brought us to Playa de San Pedro de Alcantara instead - which turned out to be a happy accident. Plenty of free parking and much less crowded than Puerto Banus. It's got a wide 1.5 km promenade, with chiringuitos and ice cream huts every few feet - perfect for walking beside the beach or finding a spot to sit or eat or drink... and take in the wonderful views.

MARBELLA
So I know Marbella is supposed to be this amazingly beautiful town, but to me, it's one of those cities that just didn't live up to the hype. It's cute and all, but I kind thought I would have my mind blown at the beauty.... but that didn't happen. Definitely worth seeing, or strolling along, is the beautiful Avenida del Mar. It leads down from Parque de la Alameda to the beach, and all along the walkway are beautiful sculptures made by Salvador Dali. Casco Antiguo (Old Town) is well worth wandering around - narrow picturesque streets, balconies overflowing with flowers and many plazas, gardens and fountains.
